Dan Bar-On

Pro­fes­sor of Psy­chol­o­gy at the Ben-Guri­on-Uni­ver­si­ty of the Negev. He lived as a fruit planter and edu­ca­tor in Kib­butz Revivim; He stud­ied psy­chol­o­gy, spe­cial­ized in research and ther­a­py of fam­i­lies of Holo­caust sur­vivors. He received his PhD at the Hebrew Uni­ver­si­ty (Jerusalem) in 1981. From 1993 to 1995 he held the Chair of the Depart­ment of Behav­iour­al Sci­ences at the Ben-Guri­on-Uni­ver­si­ty of the Negev in Beer-She­ba; Since 1996 he holds the David Lopatie Chair for Post-Holo­caust Psy­cho­log­i­cal Stud­ies; He also holds the Chair of the Cen­ter for Dia­logue between Pop­u­la­tions in Con­flict.

Shifra Sagy

Lec­tur­er in Psy­chol­o­gy at the {Depart­ment of Edu­ca­tion} at the Ben-Guri­on-Uni­ver­si­ty of the Negev. Se received her PhD in psy­chol­o­gy 1990; She holds the Chair of the Edu­ca­tion­al Psy­chol­o­gy Pro­gram of the BGU. She spe­cial­izes in cop­ing and adjust­ment to stres­sors, recent­ly involved in stud­ies con­cern­ing the psy­cho­log­i­cal effects of the Arab-Israeli con­flict, col­lec­tive iden­ti­ty and val­ues.

Emda Orr

Chair of the School Coun­sel­ing Pro­gram at the Ben Guri­on Uni­ver­si­ty of the Negev, Beer She­va. Up to 1976 her career includ­ed school teach­ing and work as clin­i­cal and edu­ca­tion­al psy­chol­o­gist. Her PhD dis­ser­ta­tion (received dur­ing 1984 from the Hebrew Uni­ver­si­ty, Jerusalem) dealt with cop­ing strate­gies of breast-can­cer patients. Her recent research intrests are cen­tered on social rep­re­sen­ta­tions, i.e., issues of the rela­tion­ships between social sys­tems and indi­vid­ual con­struc­tion of these sys­tems. Among her recent pub­li­ca­tions is “Social rep­re­sen­ta­tions and group mem­ber­ship: shared and dif­fused parental ideas in three Israeli set­tings” pub­lished in the Euro­pean Jour­nal of Social Psy­chol­o­gy 26 (1996).
