Dan Bar-On

Professor of Psychology at the Ben-Gurion-University of the Negev. He lived as a fruit planter and educator in Kibbutz Revivim; He studied psychology, specialized in research and therapy of families of Holocaust survivors. He received his PhD at the Hebrew University (Jerusalem) in 1981. From 1993 to 1995 he held the Chair of the Department of Behavioural Sciences at the Ben-Gurion-University of the Negev in Beer-Sheba; Since 1996 he holds the David Lopatie Chair for Post-Holocaust Psychological Studies; He also holds the Chair of the Center for Dialogue between Populations in Conflict.

Shifra Sagy

Lecturer in Psychology at the {Department of Education} at the Ben-Gurion-University of the Negev. Se received her PhD in psychology 1990; She holds the Chair of the Educational Psychology Program of the BGU. She specializes in coping and adjustment to stressors, recently involved in studies concerning the psychological effects of the Arab-Israeli conflict, collective identity and values.

Emda Orr

Chair of the School Counseling Program at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva. Up to 1976 her career included school teaching and work as clinical and educational psychologist. Her PhD dissertation (received during 1984 from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem) dealt with coping strategies of breast-cancer patients. Her recent research intrests are centered on social representations, i.e., issues of the relationships between social systems and individual construction of these systems. Among her recent publications is „Social representations and group membership: shared and diffused parental ideas in three Israeli settings“ published in the European Journal of Social Psychology 26 (1996).
